Montalbano Elicona, near Messina, won the 2015 title of most beautiful village in Italy. The award was attribuitoieri evening by Camila Raznovich and Dario Vergassola during the transmission of Rai Tre “At the foot of Kilimanjaro,” which this year has revived the challenge.

Municipalities in the competition were 40, then become 20 with the knockout decreed by televoting viewers.
The 20 finalists, one for each region (Montalbano Elicona had won against Cefalu on February 22) were challenged on the site with webvoting.
Just under 2,500 inhabitants, Montalbano Elicona in the historical center preserves a thirteenth century castle that dates back to the Swabian period.
